"Inspiration comes from the surroundings I inhabit, island life in the great lakes, walks in the woods  or on the beach, or even the junk shops looking for old lamps and parts some of which inspired the shades that grace them.
The glass itself can add a texture from heavy ripple to mildly wavy, mottled or swirled mixes of color. The solder lines can also add ruggedness or color through various patinas.
Other materials are rock slabs cut to as little as 3/32" to maximize translucency. Waves are pieces of broken bottles that have washed up and become naturally sand-blasted over the years. Tree trunks are old copper wire that has developed its own verdegris exposed to the elements. These all add to the character of each lamp and because they are unique make each lamp one of a kind. I do only original works not reproductions. I currently have 14 copyrights covering my designs." Dave Dunn
