Marlene's paintinting style is based on her love of vibrant and
tropical colors. Her inspirations are childhood memories of growing up
in Miami, Florida as well as travels to Italy and France. She cites the
subjects of Matisse and the sensuality of Gauguin as influences on her
work.
Marlene states that her current mixed media paintings express "the
joy of being alive, of being able to experience the intensity of color
and light all around me, and the experience and joy of being a woman."
